my new years resolutions!!

It seems every year we all start new resolutions... loosing weight is always on my list, but after a couple of weeks I just fizzle out and begin to indulge in all the leftover holiday goodies!!
This year I have a few resolutions but its gonna be real hard especially the diet after getting a huge extra large 56 oz bag of peanut M&M's... can 't start the diet before I finish that!!! that might take a while maybe by mid june i can start to diet!!

see there is always procrastination! don't like this word at all because it always takes hold of me!! That's my first( then comes the diet and loose weight thing) new years resolution! NO procrastinating! "take the bull by the horns" oh, wait as soon as I finish my bag of m&m's!!
Which leads me to my third new years resolution: get organized!! I still have a closet (and a few boxes) full of "art" stuff I don't think I have even used since I moved in my home in 2004!!! projects and paintings I never finished, books I never read, and well my "abundant collection of papers (specialty, handmade and old pages of vintage books I'll probably never use, but I just can't seem to get rid of!! what if I need them someday??? ugh! is there some kind of help for me, maybe I'm becoming a "Hoarder"!!! GASP!!!
which brings me back to New years Resolution number 1: NO PROCRASTINATING!!!

Ok, focus... lets start fresh:
#1: NO PROCRASTINATION! SERIOUSLY! I MEAN IT!!
#2: get in shape
#3: get organized
#4: focus on my art as a career and business

How can I accomplish this: STOP looking at what others are doing(thinking that they are so good, and how could I ever be like them!), believe in myself and take one day at a time.
Sometimes I overwhelm myself and feel like its just so much I can't really get anywhere. I see amazing artists going places with their careers, getting successful businesses running and I think I can't possibly do as good as them, they are so much better than me, then I feel discouraged and useless and I feel like running away and joining the circus...hence Bunny...

! ... so as of today I will do what I can the best that I can, one task at a time, one day at a time. I will accomplish all of my goals each and everyday this whole year and each day I will tell my self that I can and I will!!

Well yes this post is meant mainly for me and for those of you who feel that every year you get no where, that you accomplish none of the goals that you set forth, I feel like this each and every year, so I have to stop because I hate this feeling of not accomplishing what I most desire to do, somehow I talk my self out of it! This year I will talk myself into it!!

I decided this year will be the year I will accomplish all my goals! the only way I know how, believing that I can do it and trying the best that I can!!
Well sorry about the ranting and raving but I do hope that this will motivate you too to make this year your most memorable yet!!! Happy 2012, may all your dreams come true!! :)

A Bicycle built for two...

I cant believe it has been almost two months since I last posted! I have so much happened in these two months. I can't seem to keep up with everything! since I last posted I have done 7 art shows all around Florida.I've had fun traveling around Florida and seeing beautiful beaches I've never seen before.I have met some really amazing artists and people at the art shows and who have (very generously!)offered to help me to choose some great shows and access me so I can grow as an artist. Since I've started doing the shows, and enjoying them and making a living too, I decided to really focus on my art this year. I very hesitantly put in my two weeks notice at work and although I'm going to miss it and the great people I work with, I am really looking forward to going full time with my art. I also decided to do a little traveling with it this summer. my hubby and I will go on the road and do a little circuit of shows.. maybe New York, Chicago, who knows... sounds like so much fun to me...
The only thing about art shows though is I there is some amazing art and my husband is constantly mad at me cause I come home with so much stuff!!, I just cant resist! on the other hand this has been great for him because he has learned to appreciate art.
I have since been making some new art and new sculptures,

thought I post them for you to see, they will be up on Etsy soon... and since I'll be home more who know where this will take me... I have always wanted to learn oils...Hmmm...maybe I'll take a class or two... just thinking!

letting go

I just finished this painting and its very appropriate right now....

I'll tell you why...

Today is so many things! I have had a really hard week especially because my daughter decided she is going to do missionary work and decides to go halfway around the world. She left yesterday for Brazil, and although I know God will keep her safe its still hard to let go, cause as mothers we never see our children grown up!! I still see a 5 year old with little curls every where and big blue eyes! I hate that children have to grow up! but then again I am so proud of who she has become! I'm proud of all of my kids though, its just hard to watch them fly the coup... This was 1996 her and the boys...

and this is her all grown up on College Graduation day..:'(

any way also yesterday was my anniversary and I had to work so we really wont even get to celebrate it this year cause we are always working But I guess thats a blessing too!! 26 years... Yikes!! that's a long time but It doesn't feel long at all, I am very blessed thank you God!

Also I can't forget that I am so honored to be featured week on Ebsqart blog, I am so grateful, come by and say hi if you get a chance...

Now I have a big question, I don't know what I was thinking but I kinda do... I have three facebook pages, one is my personal page, one is my artist page and one is a fanpage... I don't like the fanpage that much cause I cant really interact that much with people. I hate my personal page because not only do I think my personal name is not artistic sounding at all but I actually hate my name ( by the way anybody ever heard of changing your name to an artistic name? like writers do?) but since its personal I don't want to mingle with my personal since its mostly friends from work and the past... I really like my artist page "Pbsartstudio" because not only can I mingle but I can post art and use my fanpage with it, but Lauren( my daughter who just graduated with a major in PR says I shouldn't even have this page because its confusing and once I get to 2000 friends face book wont let me have more ( I don't even know that I'll ever get there anyway! so I was going to delete it but now I'm having second thoughts on it, I like it, I want to keep it, I have so many friends on it I don't want to loose, and I love to be able to post to anybody when I want and comment back and forth! I was going to close it on the 20th and have advertised that for at least a month now but I really don't know if I should keep it. anybody have any advice... What do you think I should do? Help!

Oh and one more thing Only 5 five days left till I pick out a winner for my giveaway... I wish I could choose all who posted! but I will choose a second who will win a print of choice....Well I hope everyone has a great weekend.. hugs and good wishes for everyone! :0)

Good morning! It's a beautiful day here! I am so excited that fall and winter
will be coming soon! of course here in Florida sometimes it doesn't start till October! mostly near Halloween but today there is a light breeze! YaY! we can breathe!

I started cleaning my art room! wow, I didn't realize I had so much stuff!!! and boy am I messy!I don't even know where to begin to organize my shelves!! I am a terrible organizer and can't make up my mind what to keep either! oh what a chore! I knew when I started I wouldn't know which way to go...

So much stuff??? Where did it come from?

That was just two sides of the room!!!!

I have so many pieces of artwork that I started and then forgot to finish because what I do is start a piece and then leave it to dry and start another and go back to the first but if I get caught up in something then I forget where I was at and since my art room looks alike a tornado hit it I 'll forget about it! Lol! I hope I'm not the only one who does things like that or I'll think I have short term memory or some sort of memory lapse!

anyway here are a few pieces I've been working on. I haven't put up much on Etsy as Originals go because I have a few big artshows to do starting the last week of September so I'm saving them for that!

dazed and confused

Lately I'm just one big mess! I cant even decide on backgrounds for these new characters...maybe I'll keep them all and just make more characters...
I'm all over the place, I start a project and in the middle begin something else, I just can't concentrate on one thing... is there something wrong with me? I can't even sleep I have so much in my head!!!! any way.. what do you all think... which backgrounds do you prefer?

new beginnings

I just finished this little painting...my inspiration... one of the best books I have ever read "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, besides "the Velveteen Rabbit"by Margery Williams and "I'll Love you Forever"by Robert Munsch. I have always wanted to Illustrate this adorable quote and while reading it
, It came to me.. the illustration". Hope you like.

I am thinking of donating this little painting to my Daughter.. she has just started a new job with a wonderful organization called Feeding Children everywhere Its non-profit and they package meals to take to needy children and families all over the world. She just graduated from college with a Public Relations degree and decides she wants to be a missionary...but luckily she got this great job which combines both her degree and her hearts desire...She also works for an organization called Hoola for Happiness which takes hoola hoops to poor children to spread some joy to their lives and God's love along the way. She needs help not only to fund her travel to work in countries like Haiti, Brazil, Cambodia and Africa, so my way of helping is to donate some art work she can sell or auction or maybe I'll auction it for her...Maybe a bit larger painting would bring in more money.... don't know.. any way if you'd like to find out more and even help this is her blog called for Love(suggestions on how to raise money welcome and desired):+D Bye for now...

I decided to take a few photos of a painting in different stages... I am not really sure what I am going to do with it but I do know where my inspiration comes from....I hate cooking and dieting and I LOVE Sugar, sweets, chocolate and Potato chips! I know they are all bad!! Why oh why can't these foods be the ones that are good for you! Well here's to dreaming...
Painting is drawn on wood and painted loosely with acrylics... not really sure what I am going to do with it... Then I add some oils to the face and background for texture and creamy look...
Details to faces...
and then I add collage ( this I feel is the hardest part...because I have such a hard time finding just the right matches with the painting!( I am a little OCD here!)
coming up with a name wasn't hard at all though..
"Lollipops, gumballs and lemon drops" YUM! I'm still a kid at heart!

Well I am almost done but now I feel it needs something.. I'll put it away until I can come up with inspiration...

Hello Blog!

Yes I have had you in a little corner and I barely look at you, Blog... But life just really gets in the way sometimes, don't worry soon you'll be my best friend, cause I won't have anyone to talk to during the day, except for Lucy my dog and she's really not good at answering back, she just licks and grunts like a piggy! I have so much to tell you but I can't tell you all at once! Just to start on some little stuff in my life, I am really loving being home but I cannot get organized! I feel like a bull in a china shop not knowing where to go... I'm still working 2 days a week but that breaks the monotony. I have been home about 3 weeks and really haven't gotten much done but lots of paintings, not even much housework cause I just don't know where to begin... my Daughter say's she is going to call Hoarders ( the TV show) to help me with my art room. it looks atrocious... but I can say I have painted a lot :) Here's just a few I've done recently... and I decided that I would do some art at a really affordable price.. hope you like.....
First there's Leap of Faith cause for me this is a big leap of faith, trusting that my art will help me support a decent living...

And If possible I want to do a little traveling with my husband who works for the Airlines but we never take advantage of our benefits because we are always working.. so "Off we go" is my inspiration.

Ok... back to reality... I'm really trying to make a blog comeback! I really miss blogging and so many inspiring and lovely friends, and work isn't helping at all, thought I'd be less busy but not happening! So I've come to a conclusion... I need to quit my job and go full time making art. I have been doing art shows and I have realized I can replace my income a couple of times over so I'm just waiting for the right time to take that leap of faith, (really scary!!) and become a full time artist. I hate resigning at a job, I feel like I will let everyone down but It's really interfering with my creative process... well maybe not so much that but I don't have enough time to do nothing at all!!! " RUNAWAY WITH ME"...

Yeah thats what I feel like doing... running off and joining a circus would be so much fun!!!)

or maybe I'll just be a bum at the beach and collect sea shells all day....

Well hopefully soon I'll just do something!!!! meanwhile heres a few pieces I have been working on... oh, and at my side bar I have a new painting called " a Day at the fair"

The Old Armchair... by Eliza Cook

I love it, I love it! and who shall dare
to chide me for loving that old armchair?
I've treasured it long as a sainted prize,
I've bedewed it with tears, I've embalmed it with sighs,
'Tis bound by a thousand bands to my heart;
Not a tie will break, not a link will start.
would you know the spell- a mother sat there!
And a sacred thing is that old armchair!

In childhood's hour I lingered near
the hallowed seat with listening ear
and gentle words that Mother would give
to fit me to die and teach me to live.
She told me that shame would never betide,
with truth for my creed, and God for my guide

She taught me to lisp my earliest prayer,
as I knelt beside that old armchair.

I sat and watched her many a day,
when her eyes grew dim and her locks where gray;
And I almost worshiped her when she smiled,
and turned from her bible to bless her child.
Years rolled on, but the last one sped,--
My Idol was shattered, my earth-star fled!
I learned how much the heart can bear
when I saw her die in that old armchair.

On May 12,2006 My Mother passed away after suffering all her life with horrible mental disease, I was a bit relieved, because she wouldn't suffer anymore and so sad that I had never really enjoyed her because it was rare when she was lucid but even with all that my brother and I went through, there was never a moment when she wasn't expressing her love to us, she always called me her little girl and that comforted me. every Mothers day I would bring her flowers and take her out somewhere special. i would put on her favorite music that she used to listen to when she was a girl and talk about her youth and somehow that made her more lucid and incredibly happy and I always cried with happiness to have a little bit of a relationship... I miss her dearly and hope that someday I will see her in heaven and she will recognize me and we will sit and talk for hours like never before. I hope wherever she is she knows I love her and can't wait to see her again... Happy Mothers Day, " Mamita" ( my endearing name for her)
I Pray that all those who still have their mothers can enjoy them thoroughly on this wonderful day!!!and those of us who don't have her with us anymore can smile at the thought of seeing them again one day... And those that never had one... yes you missed out but you still have a heavenly Father that loves you more than his own life!!!
May you always be overwhelmed by the Grace of God rather than by the cares of life.

Dear friends, I so apologize for ignoring my blog and your friendship so much. Its been almost three months since I last posted!!! Wow!!! I have been just so overwhelmed by my job!! I finally feel like I'm starting to breathe.. i never thought my job could get so demanding but The holidays up until Valentines day have been super hectic! Oh, but do I have plans... I always have plans.hehehe...

I have been doing art and small art shows on the weekends, close to home of course, but that means no day's off either. i don't mind the art shows and I have done ok, but I finally did a real art show, my first real art show, not a craft show or farmers market like I've done in the past. I really got a shock from it too, I did well, I saw so many artists, and so good too, I didn't think I would have a chance but it really surprised me to see the difference in the type of people who came to this show. I got a lot of encouragement too. So maybe I thought ... just maybe I could make a living with this little hobby of mine... We'll see. I plan on doing many more art show ( real art shows) from now on... hopefully I will e able to change my life and not be so stressed!!!
I really hope everyone is doing well, I've checked out a few of your blogs and realized how much catching up I have to do!!!! well hugs for now!! P

So little time, so much to do!

Hello everyone, I've had so little time, and I feel like its been forever since I've caught up on my blog and all of your wonderful blogs! , I have really worked so much this week and last and most important my two eldest kids had their birthdays,My
Daughter Lauren on the 11th and Son Brett today!!:( I always get so nostalgic about that! I feel like God blessed me so much with my family, and I so wish I could do it all over again!! Happy Birthday, my Angels!
To make matters worse my camera broke! :( so I can't show you any new art, but I'm shopping around!, I am limited in the amount of money I can spend so I really need advice... I also need a new phone so I'm thinking about buying a 4G iphone but I really don't know if the camera is good enough to take pics that I can print or at least get a good image to upload on the web, I will get a better camera later but for now, I'm thinking maybe I can kill two birds with one stone by buying the iphone and using it for all the things I need.... does anyone have any advice or recomendations?
I haven't really had much time for any new art, just trying to finish all my projects... and I don't have much to show you but here's a painting I had finished a while back, did I mention, sometimes it takes me forever to get them up on Etsy? any way hope you like! "The Ballerina"

Good Morning... and it's such a good morning, The weather here is amazing, this is what i live for in Florida! Sunshine and low 80's with a soft breeze... lol, I feel a like a weather reporter! Any way its the best time of the year and that hint of holidays coming up! I cant wait!!!
Well I really want to say thanks for all the lovely comments on the last post, I get in those moods.. I call them ..."just thinking moods" thankfully I don't "ponder" for long...thats why my daughter says I'm just like a mermaid cause bright and shiny objects capture my attention and I quickly move on. yes I'm one of those people who starts project and then gets distracted by something else and then one day out of the blue I remember I had to finish something... Yes remember those clay figures I was working on a few weeks ago, they have been laying around in their little boxes, I have been looking at them wondering what to do with them, not sure! But I thought what the heck maybe I'll finish them and put them up on Etsy, sooo here's the first one... I called her..."wings of love"
yes, she's a "fairy" Mermaid with a necklace of really tiny cultured pearls and metal wings, I really hope to get a few more finished, but I'm getting distracted again by a new project, hopefully I'll get that finished by Christmas. Well it's not really new but I've been working with resin on paintings but having frustrating time with it...does anybody have experience with resin? I keep getting not bubbles but kind of waves? I'll keep going till I fix the problem but any advice will help!
Also found these great little boxes I will be turning into jewelry or treasure boxes, wanted to show you but just my luck my camera broke!!! I guess I need to find a new one!:(

"Pondering" life's purpose

Hmmm, This is a warning, might be a bit boring and long too!...this post is a very "thinkative" post...is that a word?... I don't think so but It really captures what I want to say, so today I'm making it a word!...

Coming home from work tonight, I heard on a radio show, here in Fl. (don't know if it's heard anywhere else in the US called the "Delilah" show.. (love it) there's dedications and stories and songs,Tonight she talked to a man about how everyone has a purpose in life, That God gives us all a calling, It made me think.. Well what is that calling for me... I don't really know, could art be considered a calling, I don't know how that can help anyone though except maybe decorate their home or hopefully have some deep meaning to their personal life. I know that when I like an art piece, It's that... I just love it, the way it makes me feel, or the way it reminds me of something, but could that really be my only purpose in life? make something cute...Ha! I can't barely sell it let alone make it a purpose in my life!! so ... is there more? Have I not yet heard my calling? cause I'm not getting any younger here! How do I find it? I kind of envy the nurses, teachers, missionaries, policemen, firemen and all those that do public service, even the garbage collectors do us a great service, they do a job that no-one wants, but we all couldn't live without!, they live for helping others( by putting themselves in danger even or sacrificing their time and sometimes their family too!...(Here's a great big star to you(you're better to me than any athlete or celebrity!!!) but how have I helped anyone? yeah I've raised three kids, that was a calling I guess, but they are young adults now, I'm pretty much done there....I once took a little old lady from my Moms nursing home for a bogus ride thinking I was helping her!( you can read about that here...under #5, its a pretty kooky story, being that I'm sometimes really naive!)I would love to help others, just don't know where to start(don't like volunteering, I'm too shy for that, ??.......ugh, I hope I hear that calling one day...

Well I told you this would be a boring post... sorry, just had to get that off my chest, I sometimes, think of things like that... Am I strange? Probably, but I guess I was in one of these moods when I painted this painting, almost two years ago, and it really fits this post, so I'm going to post it just cause it fits! LOL!

Well I guess I leave you with my thoughts, love to hear what everyone thinks, does anyone else think about this stuff?

Hi.. I am back from a wonderful anniversary mini vacation, well actually its been almost week already since I've been back but working a full time job now I'm completely exhausted!!! I wanted to show you guys a little peek at St. Augustine, oh I love it there so much, theres all kind of quaint little shops and cafes, and art galleries and whole in the wall(literally) places to eat and have a drink and listen to live music... but as you'll see in my pics is the old buildings and historical site, although, I have been to SA so many times I have seen the fountain of youth and the old fort so many times I didn't even go or take pics of them! I ate too much junk and barely slept but it was so worth it! LOL! Hope you like my pics taken just for you to share my mini vacation!

I consider myself so lucky....This painting is inspired by my 25th wedding anniversary coming up on the 14th of September! *25*, OMG! where did time go!!!!! It seems it was just yesterday, I was such a kid! and three amazing kids later and 25 years later it just doesn't seem possible! Taking a little break here finally... well I started my new job, did "100" "friggin" hours of training!!!!!!!!! don't remember any of it cause I spent the whole time drawi...errr..taking notes....but somehow?... it didn't sink in???I hate working... I think I have come to that conclusion after all these years wondering what was wrong with me...I really need to win the lottery(I do have to play it first!lol!)but as many of you reminded me.... a job is just a way to have more money to buy more supplies... when I think of it that way it sound really good... Thanks for showing me that insightful prospect!
I have been going to bed really late though just so I could get some stuff done, its amazing what happens when its dark everyones asleep and you cant sleep... I get my best inspiration... then I REGRET IT IN THE MORNING WHEN i CAN'T GET UP!!!

Well I'm going to give you a peek at what I've been up to but I'm not finished with these....

Hi everyone... Ive had a week....of ups and downs, lately I seem to be doing a lot of those.(my Daughter say's..."Mom you are one hot mess"!LOL!)

Before anything though ... a great big thank you to everyone who encourages me on this blog, it so helps me to keep going because if it wasn't for you I would have already quit!
I am a little emotional because , don't laugh, I found a job!!! Maybe I didn't really want one yet, although I have been complaining about not finding one, haha! Ah, women who understands them, not even me! I must of put in 1000 applications to places I really did want to work and a few to where I just put them in because ... it's a job..well I got the "It's a job", It's in retail, which I have never done before and I'm just not sure I'm going to like it!!!a little worried because I hate to quit jobs, especially once I know that they have been through so much effort to train me. so many doubts in my mind about this job, I have been really nervous about it and worse... my time will be cut short,But I really need this job... Hence I Will work for peanuts! I have had so much fun being out of work and making art and I can't wait till the fall because thats when all the art shows start and even though it's been tough selling online this summer, I know I'll do good during the art shows, I just hope I'll have the time with this new job!
Anyway on a "un-Whiny" note I have been experimenting with some new stuff, like always! (I am going to have to categorize my art because I go in so many different directions),( and by the way thanks on all your encouragement with that), I suppose as artists we all grow and transform, I realized that especially, by looking at other artists work and see so many transformations and growth including my favorite artist Vincent Van Gogh. So I'm OK with that. I love learning new stuff and trying it out, every week its something different, a couple of weeks ago... encaustics, this week its resin,don't have anything finished yet but I'll give you a peek of what I have been working at...Oh yeah and the Circus... These three paintings on wood are destined for resin, the top one "Will work for peanuts" is almost finished no resin...and the next two are not even finished...

I don't know whats up with me, I can't stop, as soon as I finish one i start three more paintings all different styles... I was looking at my paintings from last year... I've really changed my style, but I just love creating a more whimsical dolly look... what do you think, should I paint back to my old style or should i go with the more "folky" art.. if thats what you can call it? see all my paintings here on flicker, too many to blog about and so many more to post! Soon I won't be able to put them on my Flickr cause there's no more room without a pro account and I can't afford it just yet, maybe I'll just upload them to my facebook account...yeah! Hi everybody, I apologize for not posting as often as I promised, apparently the last encaustic painting really wore me out... no not really , I've just been a painting fool, can't seem to tear my self away! I have a million and one ideas in my head... can't sell a thing but hey I have to get it out of my head, right!LOL! I have been posting all my paintings on my flickr though.

I sometimes dream and in my dreams I come up with new inspirations, don't really remember the dream but when I wake up, I've got to get it on canvas. It must be because a few weeks ago I was all dried up and I really asked God to give some inspiration so here's a few I dreamed up...the Top one is called "Wish Fairy" just cause I made a wish and it came true... she's up on Etsy now.
And this is... ..."Believe Fairy" cause I do believe!
I still have so many to put up and just not enough time... I've been seriously looking for a new job and applying everywhere... I know that really soon I will find something!!! hugs to everyone, a have a great week!

Encaustic painting

Yes, this is what I did aaaaallllll day today! well , I finished a few other paintings as well but this one little painting took me most of the day! First I drew her, then I painted her on a page from a vintage book and painted her with acrylics, then I cut out her dress, painted the background of the canvas in acrylics, adhered a small piece of an old children's fable book with a little drawing of a sheep,( thats where my inspiration came from). It then took me forever.... to melt the beeswax in the microwave and layer the first layer of beeswax down, went to use the heat blower and blew the fuse!!!! I then had to go in the garage, find a latter and open the fuse box and reset everything because I couldn't figure out which one was the particular fuse... that took about 35 minutes!!!! Then I accidentally locked myself in the garage!!!! we only have a garage door, I opened the garage and had to go to all the doors of the house luckily, i had left the back door open,(lost 4 pounds, due to the heat!!!!) another 20 minutes. finally get inside and had to reheat the wax!!!!!!! second layer of wax with some of the papers put the blower back on and then blow the blower up!!!!!(so much fun!!!)I go get the blow dryer this time... oh the wax is cold again! reheat! another layer, more papers, the cutout doll...some oil paint, put the hair dryer on it, blow everything too high, start again!!!! well you get the picture, you'll want to jam a fork in your eye if I continue, and I really wouldn't want any injuries!....anyway just thought I'd give you a little peek at my wonderful day! hope you like my Bo Peep!

The Diet!

Thought it would be interesting to show you guys what I''m doing to loose some weight. Its been 1 week since I started my diet and exercise program, I am very happy to say I've lost 4 lbs. yay! It's a great program that I did a few years ago, really the only thing hard is eating too much, well it is kind of hard to eat so many times a day because you really have to plan what you're doing all day and always be prepared.
I've been eating 5-6 meals a day program. It's called the Abs Diet.(same as the Body for life diet,but this one is healthier) I eat about every 2 1/2to 3 hours. the meals have to be balanced and healthy. these are the main foods:
1. Almonds,walnut, pecans, pistachios, pumpkin seeds eaten with skins intact.
2. Beans and Other Legumes
3. Lots of Green Vegetables
4. Dairy: Fat-free or low-fat milk, yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese ( I don't eat dairy, just yogurt)
5. Instant Oatmeal: Unsweetened, unflavored- (Irish oats of rolled is best- there's a 5 min cook version)
6. Eggs
7. Turkey and other lean meats. Lean steak, chicken, fish
8. Peanut Butter – All-natural, sugar-free.(fresh is best)
9. Olive Oil
10. Whole-Grain Breads and Cereals
11. Extra-Protein Powder(Whey)
12. Berries-1/2 cup per serv, 1/2 small apple

I cut out:
sugar,white starches(potatoes,white rice, white breads, white pasta) substitute for whole grains and stevia(sugar substitute found a health food stores, Now there's a product called Truvia at major groc stores, no starchy vegs like carrots and corn.

Portions are important too:
carbs: any whole wheat or grain- about the size of your fist
Protein: lean meats including fish- about the size of your palm (just the palm not the fingers and about as thick as your palm)
fats: olive, coconut oil- just enough to cook with or add to your salad, a fourth of an avocado

A sample day goes something like this:

7:00 Breakfast:1/2 cup oatmeal with 1/4 cup milk( I use almond milk( which you can purchase at the grocery store(non-sweetened)10 almonds (make sure they are raw)
1'2 apple sweeten with Truvia-8oz. wtr or tea or coffee

work out from 8:00-9:30am 8 oz wtr-20 min interval cardio and weight training(with weights

9:30 snack: 1 cup Greek yogurt plain w/ Truvia 1/2 berries blend or not!8oz wtr or a whey protein shake ( 1/4 cup whey protein,5 strawberries, 1/2-3/4 cup water(depends on taste)

12:00 Lunch
2 slice whole wheat bread ( I use Ezequiel bread (which is a sprouted health bread (health food stores)lettuce, tomatoes, onion, peppers, pickles,2 slices of Roast beef or turkey,8 oz wtr, or iced tea (sweeten w Truvia)

3:00 snack -1 slice of Ezekiel bread w 1 tsp of raw honey and Almond butter(health food store)really good! 8 oz wtr or tea-

5:30 Dinner- Salad any amount with 3 oz protein cooked to preference( can be spice up, baked or grilled) 1/2 cup brown rice stir fried with 1 tbs coconut,sesame or olive oil add 1/2 tsp soy sauce and sesame seeds 8oz wtr

6:30 brisk 20 min walk around neighborhood 8 oz wtr

8:30-9:00 snack (optional)- 1/2 small apple- handful nuts 8 oz wtr

best part... you get one cheat meal a week! anything you want!

It's a hard diet to follow but if you prepare your food ahead of time and get plenty of snack and take them with you wherever you go it is easy and much cheaper than eating out. When I work, I just cook plenty of rice, chicken breasts,skinny beef steaks, cut all veggies, make salads and oatmeal for the week and get lots of yogurt and nuts to snack and shakes are usually a life saver!

This plan really speeds up your metabolism and helps you to lose weight really fast. you don't have to exercise that much, just 20 min cardio a day but I want to really tighten up so I do 2 times a day 20 min interval cardio and light weights. i have known people to not exercise at all and still loose weight, but I still think exercise is important and results are more likely!
Well I hope you like my program , I'll continue to keep posting about because it really motivates me to show my progress. I'm hoping to lose 20 lbs in 6 weeks! wish me luck!

Cleaning house in more ways than one!

So all this time off, being sick and trying to find a job, (with no luck!)I decided to do some cleaning, my art studio...(no easy task) that needs a downright overhaul! I have barely gotten anywhere even though I have spent the last two days cleaning it... It doesn't help that I keep forgetting what I'm doing and get totally distracted by some old piece of art I forgot to finish in some corner and decide suddenly to work on it! Or some really nice papers I find that I had stashed away and forgotten about them... I don't think I'll ever finish cause I just keep making a mess all over again! One nice thing is I have realized how much artwork I actually have that I have not posted up for sale, I guess I've been a little discouraged too, because the lack of sales, but in all I have about 20 new art pieces, not to mention some pendants i created a while back, I sold quite a bit of them at some art shows I did back in the spring and then put the rest in a box and forgot about them! Soooo... I decided I'm going to get rid of some of the art clutter and try my hand at ebay...again...When I first starting selling, I did ok, but then I got discouraged and didn't want to pay anymore Ebay fees for nothing, so I quit. This time I am going to put up some of my original artwork starting really cheap....just $.77, some will be prints, some will be Originals, some large paintings, some small... starting this Sunday. I decided my first painting will be...

I'll be posting new artwork every day for 7 days, what sells,sells and if it doesn't then I guess I'll have more stuff to sell in art shows come the fall!

And while I'm at it I decided to start an intense exercise and diet program, after all this sickness I need to get healthy and stop having so many symptoms like PMS, allergies and just feeling plain ol' Blah! A couple of years ago I got in the best shape of my life, no PMS...no allergies and never even got a cold. When other people around would get sick, I'd just have to take care of everyone, this little bout of the flu made me realize how out of shape I am... so I decided to return to the natural medicine, six meals a day and exercise. I'ts not so easy though... I feel really run down after the flu, but everyday I'm getting stronger and more motivated.
I'll be posting on some of the things I did and will be doing again to get in shape like reading books (like if you want to get rid of PMS the best book is "What the Doctors won't tell you about PMS or Menopause" by Dr John R. Lee M.D., (This book is amazing, if anyone suffers from PMS or Menopause symptoms...this is the one)and "The Body for Life" by Bill Phillips. I've got some great info on all this if anyone is interested. I'll be letting everyone know about my progress...Oh, this is going to be hard but as they say... no pain, no gain, right? wish me luck please...

I'm still not feeling that great, I have this terrible head cold lingering on from the flu last week, that doesn't seem to go away, hopefully this week it will be gone, because I really don't have time for it!!! being sick...and my goals

I don't know where I've heard this, I'm sure some of you will know, some movie or sometihing..."What a week I'm having!!!!" I have had the worst flu I've had in years, three days of not even being able to get up out of bed, twice to the doctor and today I had to get a antibiotic shot! I hate shots!!! This was supposed to be my last week at work before I take some time off for the summer, didn't make it in one day! Not that I'm upset so much about that but I'll miss my measly last paycheck! No art, no inspiration, no anything, I haven't even been able to catch up on "flying lessons", and it's almost over! I meant to do so much, find new inspiration,new inspiring friends and classmates through flying lessons but work and being sick has gotten in the way! I am feeling better after that horrible shot though, I must admit. I really "twinged" when the doctor told me I was getting a shot but now that I am feeling better only 8 hours after the shot i must say, I'd welcome it if I ever were to get this sick again which I won't,(but just in case)!
And today was supposed to be my last day at work, (don't know what I am going to do now, because i really need a job), but I couldn't take the heat anymore, not for the lousy pay anyway. I was going to spend the week looking for a job and optimistically and magically believed I would have one before the end of the week! LOL! But now I am kind of scared a little, I must find something soon!!
I have been combing a little through the rest of the content of flying lessons and find it overwhelming, fascinating, and great but I am also doubting so much... I am kind of afraid to say out loud (or int this case write it out)I am usually a very positive person, but as I've mentioned before lately and maybe since "Flying Lessons" when I should be feeling more optimistic then ever, because of the content of the course, I am feeling doubtful...is the market is too saturated with my type of art for me to succeed? There is so much out there and sooo amazing. Is there enough room out there for me?... can I really put myself out there?, what if I fail?, where will i go from there if i do fail?, will it feel like a job if i do succeed? and worse, for me, because I hate being in the limelight, what if I get attention!
Sometimes we really do sabotage ourselves, don't we? I know for a fact that many of us, not just me, think this way.. self sabotage...
I'm not going to allow these thoughts to bring me down, I am going to go one step at a time and not think about what could or could not happen, all I really want is to sell some art, make a living and if I can do that then I will be happy. Kelly Rae asked us to set some goals, I kept going around and around with it and never could come up with specific goals because all I truly want is to sell some art, to make someone smile with it. To know that somewhere in the world I created something that makes someone happy, is that a poor goal? That doesn't scare me, it doesn't stress me out, it allows me to just create art. I'm not good at twittering or social networking, I have to accept that. but one thing is for sure, I just have to be me. and me is simple, no stress, no self sabotage, no doubts. So I've come up with my goals: ( Because Kelly says it good to write them out) here goes:

1) Make art
2) sell art
3) be happy

ahhh...I feel so much better in both physical and emotional ways! have a great rest of the week!

I knew someone would ask that... I should have mentioned it in my last post, now I've got everyone curious, Lol! I work for an art company that does caricatures, pastel portraits,Letter brush, face painting,airbrush,and Handart... here's a few pics This is called Handimals, we turn a child's hand print into a animal...... ...These are pastel Portraits... one I did from a foto......
at local theme parks. At the moment, I am working doing Letter brush, which is a ancient Chinese form of writing with symbols and hand-drawn animals to create letters. We draw a name with tropical themes and marine life. It's really pretty but I don't have a picture to show, I 'll take some and post them later. I won't quit because I just love it but I think I'm going to take the rest of the summer off after July 4th. Well Off I go to work another day in what really feel like and inferno so toot-a-loo to all!

Just another painting I just finished on wood....I named her Rapunzel because I showed her to two different friends and they both asked if she was Rapunzel...so "Rapunzel" it is...

Today has been exhausting! I must find a new job or quit my job altogether and figure out a way to make a living through this art of mine. I Love my job, I create art all day and I love it but Its outside! and I don't get paid nearly enough!Today it was 100 degrees here in Florida, It felt like 150. I felt like I was in a sauna and although we have fans (two little ones...) they only blow hot air! I can't even eat, it's too hot to even feel appetite... I can't understand how this is our busy season... why do tourists come to Florida in the summer....??? I don't get it!!!!! But why do I stay... I learn so much at my job, this past few weeks I have been learning chinese letter brush... Thats writing someones name out in little tropical, animal and flower characters, its very pretty and I love it! My Boss is the best too! that always helps! But I have come to realize that something has got to change!!! It's just too hot!:( ... Ok enough whining! I am very excited about one thing... I received my new art prints that will be in my
etsy shop starting today. They turned out beautiful! I don't have one of those fancy printers, so I get them made by a company who is slow as molasses but the quality of their work is fantastic! I am very happy with the prints.
I do want to say thank you to all of you who commented on my last post, Its so nice to get such wonderful advice and opinions from talented and sweet spirited friends who know how I think and feel! I haven't had a chance to visit but I will! Thank you so much. I feel so honored to be able to receive such great advice from all of you...

Consistency

About consistency... I have mentioned before how not good at it I am, I am all over the place in my art, I can't seem to stick to one thing,one style. Am I normal.. I don't know? I see so many artists that can stick to something that really brands them like...Kelly Rae...
No, not me...I can get inspired by a jar of molding paste or a scrap of paper just the same and create something totally different from one painting to the next just because of the medium, even my family always exclaim... That's different! Does that mean I can never be branded...will people see me as wishy washy?
I seem to change my art so often a.. from more realistic faces ...to very whimsical or even cartoonish..., I hope that that isn't a contributing factor in how successful I am at appealing to potential buyers but I really can't help it, I want my art to be fun and if I can't feel it then I can't create it, even if I can't sell it! That's why I keep creating these silly little wood blocks(picture at top of blog) that don't even sell! but I love them and I have come to one conclusion...I create art to display paper! I am consistent about that!LOL!
Yes.. I am consistent in the fact that I am totally infatuated with paper and sometimes I just want to display paper in my art, sometimes I think it is just too pretty to cover up with paint, sometimes I even just want to mount the whole sheet of paper on a mat and frame and stare at it. I get lost in the art store looking at paper and now I have accumulated so much I really don't think I can use it in a lifetime, but I can't part with it either... sometimes I think I can't even use the paper in fear that I'll use it up and never find it again??? even though I only use a little of it and I usually have three or more sheets of the same... Am I becoming a paper Hoarder??? OH no!... I think I need help!

Quirky Paintings

Well, I promised I wouldn't stay away for long and it's good that I decided that because on Kelly Rae's "Flying lessons" she talks about consistency... Yeah... not too great with that! But I'm really going to try hard ...

I have been working at painting more whimsical, quirky paintings, these are quite small...5x7, I do sketch them out first but I just can't see them right without their background so by putting them on a small canvas I don't feel like I'm wasting canvas, does that make sense? I have been really loving doing them small though!! I will be trying to do more and more quirky small paintings, maybe I'll put them up on ebay, although I never have any luck on ebay... I just hear crickets.......any tips on how to sell successfully on ebay? I see many artists start at .01 with no reserve, but that doesn't even pay for the canvas?How do they do that?
Any way I thought about mounting these on another canvas with a background collage or maybe even an old frame or should I just leave them alone?? Love some suggestions....
This first one is "Bee Happy"... but the other ones I haven't come up with a name yet, I could use some help with that too if anyone is interested?

Yes that's me ... Queen of Dreams.. at least that's what my husband calls me , he says I have all these hair brain ideas, and I have to admit I do... but where would we all be without dreams right... The Disney Empire wouldn't be around, thats for sure and America would never have been discovered right? Just a little food for thought! I was reading my own "down " posts earlier and realized that "how funny" one minute we can be all down and negative about ourselves and another something happens and you start believing in yourself all over again... I have been taking Kelly Rae Robert's e- course and I have to say it's fantastic, it's got me all positive and dreaming once again! I really couldn't afford it but I just couldn't stop thinking about it once I found out about it and now I know it was meant to be. She's has been telling us how important it is to have goals and that everyone has fears (glad to know at least I'm not alone on that!) but you must learn to overcome them. Well, Its finally done... My youngest child, Wes turned 18 and graduated from High school all in one week, its been a busy week and haven't had much time for anything but now that it's over it's a bit bittersweet!, he's my baby and I really didn't want him to grow up! On the other hand, I feel that I have accomplished something, I still have to get used to the idea that he can make his own decisions and a bit worried about that too.. what if he makes the wrong decisions? but I guess we all in life have to make mistakes, right! I have been creating a lot though, I have so many new projects , i am one of those people who start something and then go on to another before i finish the first, don't know why i do that but i think it helps me to leave a project that i'm stuck on for a while until i have more inspiration. I just posted a new painting on Etsy, I'm not sure about this one, i made it over a month ago and haven't posted it because of this insecurity I'm having lately about my art?

IN my last post I told you all I have a new project, I am excited about it, I have a proposition from a company to create art for their project, Its a gourmet salsa and the theme is nautical, Florida kind of art. I have had a hard time with it though because i mostly create whimsical art and thats what they like about my art but how to mesh the two together has been a little difficult. so anyway thats my new inspiration, I've come up with whimsical turtles, pelicans, fish and of course more mermaids., so we'll see were this takes me. Thanks so much to all of you, for your wonderful support! It means so much to me just to know someone listens! I have been busy this week though, I have been creating lots of art and God knows why things happen because I have a new project I'll have to tell you all about if it goes through! I will tell you this, besides my girly whimsical art I've been creating a line of Florida "nautical", "beachy", "whatever" you want to call it kind of new art, I haven't really finished a piece yet but I will post it as soon as I finish so I can get some artistic criticism, This art is for my newest business venture??? Just don't know if it will work out yet so I won't say anything about yet, but I am excited about it. I finally decided to stop in to my blog and say hello! I have no excuse except I've been in a slump, It all started the week of Easter... I got laid of from one of my jobs! The one i hated anyway but the way they did it made me so mad! I went in to work as I normally do and found I wasn't on the schedule anymore! I asked my boss what was going on and he shrugged his shoulders and said he had no idea, he made a phone call and then told me they had decided to cut me because I didn't have enough availability and there wasn't enough hours to go around... I was going to quit anyway but they could of at least called me and professionally told me what was going on, instead of me walking in to make a fool of myself, I mean, if I was going to quit I would at least give them notice, isn't that the professional thing to do? Well, I guess it's all for the best, I still work 2-3 days a week at my other job which I really like and it gives me time to do my art at home... you would think I would but no I find other things to do because lately I have no inspiration! well maybe a little... I've always liked to march to a little bit of a different beat, what I mean is I love creating my mixed media girls but sometimes I just get tired of doing the same thing,I usually won't do what others are doing, for example, .. like Fridas ( which I adore) but I feel I just can't make something any better than whats out there. For example Flor Larios' Fridas, so gorgeous, how could I make anything better than that!!!!So I just never go there. Alice in Wonderland is a huge theme and I have been asked to do a few, I have refused because there's so much amazing "Alice" art out there,... until now, I just fell in love with Alice in Wonderland when I went to see the movie and in 3D no less... I came home and just had to put on canvas, or wood or paper, what I see. I do feel though that my art is changing, maybe that why it's not selling as well but I have to do what my creative spirit is telling me to do, not what I should be doing to sell more art. It's about unleashing that creativeness not about mass production, that's how I see it anyway!
up above is my Alice Art Block... I haven't finished it yet ... but it does make me smile... I have something special in mind for this one, I will show it to you all when I'm done though...

I still have one more little one I'm working on... yes you guessed it... the Queen of hearts...here's a preliminary sketch in Red color pencil (I do most of my sketches in colored pencil... don't know why)... they measure 4x4...have you ever tried to do a mixed media on a small canvas? Don't know what I was thinking but it's not easy!!!

Oh and I forgot to mention, I decided to start my own facepainting business, I even did a free facepainting for my daughter's "Relay for life" event at the University of South Florida in Tampa last weekend, I have to say that this years event planners did not do such a great job at getting the word about the event out there and there were very few people, so we didn't raise that much money for the event but I did get some practice on facepainting, here's a picture of my Daughter, Lauren and Calli, my son's new puppy... It's a little blurry, its on my camera phone!

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy Easter... here are two images of a new angel called " The Companion" although I may change her hair color I think she looks pale...I am always torn by the meaning of Easter.. i believe we should celebrate the true meaning of Easter...The most joyous occasion for any Christian...Our redemption! wow, two posts in one day, that's a first for me! but I just had to say that I'm so Glad to know I'm not alone here!!! Thanks so much girls for your reassuring comments, I really think sometimes I'm a little weird and only I think silly thoughts! ha ha! But I am so grateful for all your lovely comments!

I wanted also to give Jennifer a great big thank you! I actually won something! and something I actually need!!! I have never won anything that I could actually use! I won a copy of "creative time and place" by Rice Freeman Zachary. How Ironic, I was just talking about not having any time and this book talks about how to make time for art, Someone up above knew I needed it!... now if I could just find the time to read it.....

I love to post pictures with my posts, i really feel naked if i don't... so I'll post a pic of this one I just sold, I know you have all seen this painting, I have had it for almost a year and have finally sold it, I am really attached to it.. I'll miss it. It's funny I have a few paintings I really like and think they will sell easily but they are not so easy to sell, I don't know if the price is a factor but sometimes the paintings i think are not that good, sell right away, who knows.. it's another one of my mysteries! An honest post

I have realized I'm an absolutely terrible blogger! in fact I'm horrible at any social media! I really don't have a knack for it, in fact I really don't even know how to advertise for my Etsy! I struggle even on flickr.. Ha ha... I really am a terrible sales person too. I hate to seem like I'm trying to get a sale, I feel like I'm spamming which I despise. I love comments, but I don't even know where to post back an answer, like on Flickr, when someone leaves a comment, do I post something back on my own picture or do i go to the persons picture who commented on mine, ?? doesn't that seem like I'm trying to get people to come see me under their page?? ahh, frankly I'm frustrated with it! I don't want to seem like I'm trying to sell or trying to get sales, honestly, I just want a frank opinion or to make someone smile!Of course sales are nice but aren't most of those with whom we blog with artists too and trying to get their stuff out too? Twitter and Facebook are the most baffling of all because I'm terrible at telling people what I'm doing, most of the time I really don't know myself!LOL! And then there's the issue of how much time I'm spending doing all of this when I barely have time anyway, I'd rather be painting in my little spare time but then I have accumulated art that no one sees... oh and most of the time I'm so distracted looking at everyone else art and drooling over it, I don't get anything done anyway!I know this is a silly post! Just venting I guess, thanks for listening... I can go to work today with a little more off my chest...

These are really cute and just in time for Easter. I painted, collaged and wood burned them, problem is I can't stop making them! I keep coming up with new Ideas for them and they have this dreamy, creamy look, "vintagey" ( is that a word?)look too that I so love. Posting is getting harder and harder for me, I really apologize, but i really have so little time! I just got home from work, thought I'd just say hi and thank all my blogging friends for so much patience and support. I've been working on a new line, very whimsical, did and art show this past Sunday and sold quite a few, unfortunately I lost my Camera and cant show them to you yet, I'm hoping I just misplaced it. I've been trying out some new stuff and did one on paper and scanned it so I could show you, this one is the same design only on collaged ephemera ( just wanted to see if they turned out as cute as on the wood blocks) ( although I've doodled many designs to come), I've painted them on wood blocks and woodburned them and they are very cute, I hope to show them to you soon! These are just in time for Easter. Hope you like my first design! It's called "Bunny Love" . Since I don't have any new paintings to post I decided to post this one little painting I had done about 2 years ago when I started doing angels, I liked her so much I decided to keep her and kept her in a corner of my art room and totally forgot about her until recently, there's a kinda darkness about her, don't know what I was thinking but i still like her a lot.. shes called "cross my heart"

Sometimes it seems I have so little to say, there's a lot of mumbo jumbo in my head though, but I am a quiet person, I've always been a little shy and a little afraid to say what I'm thinking, sometimes I feel that what i have to say may just not come out right so I think and think about it and then say nothing at all. See I told you all there's a lot of mumbo jumbo in my head. Today I woke up, thinking i would finish up on some art I already started, but of course, i get on the computer and get distracted, (easy for me). I have been in rut lately, don't know if it's because I've been working so much, all I can think about is quitting my jobs and just staying home but if I did that i would never leave my house or even get out of my pj's.
My art has been suffering too, I usually feel a passion for painting and lately I feel I have just been going through the motions or maybe it's because sales have been down or maybe it's just the weather, It's been cold in Florida, well cold for Florida and I'm definitely a sun worshiper, the cold seems to get me down especially when I'm working outside. So I don't have anything new to show you except a few paintings I did a few weeks ago , I haven't even posted them on Etsy...I'm not sure not sure why... too little time?... anyway here they are...

I Hope everyone has a had a wonderful Valentine's Day!!!! I just got back from a weekend getaway. We went to St. Petersburg beach, Fl for my Mother -in -law's 70th birthday and even though the weather was really miserable, we had a great time. We went to the horse races, won a few, lost a few, came out ahead $1.... woo hoo! but it was fun, and we got to spend the weekend with all those we love!The only thing that depresses me is the thought of starting another busy week and not having enough time to do the things I love.......I wanted to post this one up for Valentines Day but little time so i guess any time is good for love , right? I'll post her up on Etsy tonight, I'm not sure I'm crazy about this one and the next one, but they are both some I did a few weeks a go and have not gotten up yet....

So I bet you all thought I disappeared into blog land but no.... I'm back, just really have had no time at all, I've been working so much, I come home exhausted and I haven't even painted in about a week and a half. But no you can't get rid of me that easily!
I had one of those weeks where everything seems to happen to me and you ask why me...I think it was just a few weeks ago I read, I think it was Micki's post about why me, well I'll tell you just one of the crazy things I've done... I was at work, I stepped outside to talk on my cell phone and decided to sit on a golf cart we use to get around the huge property I work at. I absentmindedly put my foot on the accelerator not knowing someone had left it running and the cart took off right into the bushes! I had a hard time getting it out but I really didn't want to tell anyone I had done that cause then I'd get teased forever, chalk another air-headed moment to me! Why does these thing always happen to me! Any way I decided to come and feed my very neglected blog and post some art I did a couple of weeks ago. I'm really antsy to try new stuff, so if I can possible get some time, my next endeavor will be some encaustic paintings, we'll see how they turn out because I've never tried it before but I found this great book on it, maybe some more abstracty stuff!

Here's the dilemma... If I kiss a frog will He turn into my handsome prince or will I turn into a frog?!

Thank you Kolleen so much for this award! I have not had a chance to post it, but better late than never right? Ten Things I love the most....ugh, there's more than ten, it's really hard narrowing it down! here goes and not in order:
1) spending time with my Kids, Brett, Lauren and Wes!
2) finding cute little restaurants and shops to explore with my Husband ( mind you, there has to be something good for him, so it has to involve, beer, Ice cream and/or sports, somehow)
3) taking three hour long naps with the window open and a nice soft breeze or on a rainy day with my dog Lucy.
4) going to Costa Rica to visit my family
5) My days off of work! (even though I like my jobs)
6) spending the day in my PJ's
7) goofing off with my family
8) building sandcastles and looking for seashells at the beach
9) rummaging through antique shops or thrift stores
10) exploring amazing blogs and artwork

PHEW!... that was hard! and now the hardest part: I pass this along to some of my favorite blogs...

There is so much catching up for me to do, one of my favorite things is to explore blogs, what a great invention!!!! I don't even hardly watch TV anymore! I have found some really great new blogs but I also love exploring blogs I have followed since i discovered blogging! But I get really distracted( I'm already distracted easily) and sometimes I feel like I should be doing productive things... but Blogging and discovering blogs is productive, right?
Any way I wanted to show everybody what I've been up to, some new paintings, I'll post some more later but this one is one of my favorites... It's called "Happy Cake" and I'll put it up on Etsy Tomorrow.

The "story" behind this little painting is a small fantasy of mine. I have always wanted to be a cake decorator( no, I've never tried ( but I love watching all the shows on food network) about cakes!)and I fantasize about someday taking a course on making cakes! I do love cake. So I guess you could say this is a "self portrait" though it's from when I was younger, HAHA! The little poem on her shirt is... Yes you guessed it ...written by me...
I am a "wanna be" poet!HEHE!
And the reason it's called "Happy Cake" well, my two year old Niece, Charlie and Nephew, Liam ( the most adorable set of twins) call any cakes "happy cake", they always think it's someone's birthday when they see a cake so I have to continue the tradition, so thanks Charlie and Liam for helping me name this painting!

by the way, the Happy cake is Strawberry shortcake... my favorite! It looks good doesn't it?

I have been so super busy lately, between two jobs,Christmas,Kids, creating new art and even a few art shows I barely have time to eat!!!!!!!! but I do miss my blogger friends and I'm positive you are all in the same predicament. I'd really like to say thanks though for all the great comments, I have some new art to show you but I haven't taken any good pictures because for three days we have had nothing but Fog in the morning, I know... in Florida???! and It doesn't clear till I have to leave for work so I haven't been able to take any pictures. Also I am wondering if anyone knows how to hide a post ? cause dummy me...made a new Facebook fan page and invited everyone to join including my mother in law and realized she might see my Christmas gift to her...duh....!(and by the way please come join, I'm going to be doing a giveaway soon on Facebook, love to see you all there!)just click on my face book link)
Anyway, I'm happy cause I did an art show... well it's more of an upscale weekend market at Celebration, Fl. I was very surprised, I did pretty well, sold about 6 paintings and some of my new art pendants (which by the way I'll be posting soon as i can take some good pics). I've got another show next Sunday and hopefully I'll do just as good.
These are a just some of my sold paintings...:( They are hard to part with!

I really hope everyone is having a great time getting ready for the holidays, It doesn't really feel like Christmas here because it's been so Hot..80 degrees! But hopefully maybe by Christmas it will cool down, I really do envy all of you who have beautiful snow!Have a great week!

Well, as usual, December has crept up on me without me even noticing, I'm running out of time and haven't done even half the things I had to do, like put my Christmas cards up for sale! Ok... I think that each day in December should be 24 hours long,(working should only be about 4) and each night about 12, then we would have more time to do everything and get a good nights rest too! Yeah, I know, I'm confusing, confused and I think I'm dreaming too much...Sigh...

I have so many Christmas presents to create but one in particular I would like to show you.. it's for my Mother-in-law, She's a wonderful lady who is always there for me. A long, long time ago I used to make art-dolls, she loves Angels and I've painted a few for her through the years but one year in particular i made her an angel doll, I don't have a picture but it was very primitive made with crepe paper, dried flowers and mohair. She loved this Angel and only took it out for Christmas, then carefully wrapped it and put it away till the following year, but last year she regretfully had to throw it away as it had mildewed and the flowers had been eaten by bugs. she was very sad about it, so... this year I decide to make her a new one. I took a large Styrofoam cone and wrapped it in tissue paper and then I wrapped white bandage tape around it neck and wired arms. I cut up a pretty but old blouse my daughter had discarded and made a dress for the angel, then I formed a paper clay head and used pastel chalk to color its face,neck and arms and a little acrylic paint for the details and then I added natural wool roving for the hair( I couldn't find mohair) :(
then I added some man made willow branches and a bird on her head... and voila!
I think she turned out pretty good... in this picture I have not attached her wings, I'm still debating on what to use for wings... any ideas?
Maybe handmade collaged paper wings, or twigs

I later decided that I had a good model for a painting so this ones not an angel... Just a girl... haven't named her yet...any suggestions?

Now for Seven things about me....

1) I absolutely LOOOOVE Hershey's milk chocolate with almonds. I wish it was a diet food and I would substitute it for all foods and stay skinny!!!!(Dream on...)

2) I adore the Beach and looking for seashells and building sandcastles!

3) I am not starstruck by celebrities at all, I think they are overrated and i get a "who cares" attitude! There are only a few famous people I admire... Like Walt Disney

4) I someday want to travel (backpack and stay in little hostels) through All of Europe and Asia with my husband. I also want to take just my Daughter to Italy someday soon!

5) I sometimes don't think and do really silly things, like I believed a little old lady from a nursing home, that she needed to go home and I decided to give her a ride(with my kids and husband in the car and against my husbands arguments!) She pinched and hit the kids in the back seat and made us drive around in circles until I realized my husband was right and we took her back to find everyone looking for her! Yeah, I'll never live that one down!

6) Family to me is the most important thing and Gods greatest gift. I really feel the need to reach out to those who are lonely and someday would like to be a missionary.

7) Someday (soon hopefully) my daughter... Lauren wants to write a children's book and I will illustrate it!

And now the hardest part cause I have such a hard time choosing (anything!) and this is why I never do the award thing! I HAVE CHOSEN THESE WONDERFUL BLOGGERS BECAUSE THEY ARE SO CREATIVE AND INSPIRING TO ME AND BECAUSE THEY NEVER SEEM TOO FAR AWAY!

I have been so off this week, somehow I feel like I've got artist block or maybe it's because I've been trying to do too much, so I just distract my self with other things like all of your wonderful blogs or YouTube. I was looking for some inspiration and of course I went to my all time favorite, Vincent Van Gogh and I found this amazing video. I'ts so beautiful and touching. I have been working on a few different projects, I was hoping to be ready for Christmas but it just really creeps up on me every year! I have been trying different things...I found a 2x4 piece of wood in my garage, asked my husband to cut it up for me and this is what I came up with.......... I want to make at least a dozen cause they go so well together, then I'll put them up in my Etsy, also I've been working on some pendants, I'll have some pictures soon.

Today has been the most beautiful day here in Orlando,this is why I live here, its about 78 degrees and the sun is shining, there's a light breeze and it feels like springtime, I love it!
Although sometimes I get a little envious of all the people who live up north and get to go play with snow and can cozy up to a fire and hot chocolate, and get to have white Christmases!
so I just have to settle drawing things that remind me of that! I am trying to get These printed in cards for my Etsy, but I can't really find a way to do it, anybody have any suggestions?

I want to especially dedicate it to those of you who may be going through hard times...

This brings me to a question I was asked today and that I get a lot and thought, maybe people perceive me a certain way because of my Art. So I decided to open up a little about me. I got asked if my art reflects my personality or my life, because there is a certain sadness in my paintings. The answer to that is no. I don't know why my paintings turn out sad, I don't think they are sad but maybe reflect other feelings, of course that's in my mind, and maybe that's not how people see my art.
I had a bittersweet childhood, My mother suffered from schizophrenia and because of that I was passed along my 5 different Aunts, some treated me really well, while others not so much, all in all, I had happy times and sad times. (We all do)
But the hardest thing I lived in my Childhood was coming to the US at the age of two, (I was born in Costa Rica)I was never accepted very well in school, because we lived in a community (In NJ)where It was mostly middle income Whites mostly Italian decent (the funny thing was that my ancestors were mostly Italian also) but children can be so cruel, I was bullied all through my childhood, even getting in trouble at school just so i could stay late and not have to walk home alone and get beat up. I was thankful ever Summer when I would get sent to CR to go to school so I could learn Spanish, because i always fit in there. We moved when I was 13 to Florida, where it was different, no one discriminated against me but by now I was mostly a scared girl, even of my shadow! I learned to cope with my fears in time though and God healed my heart. I met the most wonderful guy, we've been married(happily) for 24 years and I have three Beautiful, amazing Kids who are my Joy! God has Blessed me so much! and I have so much to be grateful for, even my childhood!
I feel that God allows Things to happen in our lives for a reason, I think I am a better person because of all I went through and though It was hard, I am who I am today because of it and I do thank God for "everything"!
I feel that life is what we make of it, we choose to Love, We choose to be kind, we choose to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off and continue on the journey that God has mapped out for us, we choose to be happy and I am. I rarely am in a bad mood or sad or unhappy with what God has given me. I am very easy going and carefree, I let things just roll right off and I love to have fun! I am hardly ever serious and love to joke around but I am a little airheaded and fogetful some times, which i usually just laugh off! But one thing for sure is that it is hard for me to open myself up and talk about my life, I very rarely do so and I feel apprehension about it. I really am doubting posting this, but I must be brave!
As for my Art, I don't feel that it is sad, I try to express kindness, love, compassion, and happiness, which in a way is my form of reaching out to people, just maybe not in the traditional way of smiling. It kind of saddens me to think that some people feel sadness though when they look at my art, I guess everyone perceives it their own way.

I can't believe Tomorrow is another Halloween! Where does time go? The year is almost up! And as far as I'm concerned, November 1st starts Christmas, my favorite time of year! A couple of years ago, when I didn't even know what blogging was, I was making winter and Christmas related paintings, I sold a few as cards at a few Art shows, but I revisited them lately and I really didn't remember how cute they were, maybe I'll put a few up on Etsy?

I just wish it would get cooler... 85 to 90 degrees does not feel like Christmas! But 75 would be nice!

The Old Armchair

I think what I love about blogging is making new friends and knowing that somehow we can make a connection, sometimes its because some of us are Artists and we think alike, or maybe its just knowing that maybe there's someone out there who will listen to our silly ramblings...OH, if only Van Gogh would have had a Blog! It's also knowing that there are still nice,giving people, who want to share their life with you, left in the world! But the best part is finding fun, beautiful, different, quirky things that you never dreamed of.. everyone has a story to tell or something fabulous to show, I love that!I have really had so much fun on this blogging thing and looking at other blogs has made realize, what an amazing world it has opened up for me.. Thank you all you wonderful bloggers, just wanted to let you know how much you make my day!

And so I'd like to share with you a little about an old Poem that I found,(And the painting it inspired) In an old book I found published in 1905, It's a collection of poems written by ordinary people. It's called..."the Old Armchair". It goes like this:

The Old Armchair... by Eliza Cook

I love it, I love it! and who shall dare
to chide me for loving that old armchair?
I've treasured it long as a sainted prize,
I've bedewed it with tears, I've embalmed it with sighs,
'Tis bound by a thousand bands to my heart;
Not a tie will break, not a link will start.
would you know the spell- a mother sat there!
And a sacred thing is that old armchair!

In childhood's hour I lingered near
the hallowed seat with listening ear
and gentle words that Mother would give
to fit me to die and teach me to live.

I thought that so beautiful and it really spoke to my heart, My mother passed away 3 and half years ago and I still miss her. I don't have an armchair but I kept a few of her favorite things and every once in a while I take them out and I can just feel her there! I am not sad though because I know she's in Heaven and happier than she was ever here on earth and someday I will see her again!

I Made this painting around this poem, because a poem like this is just too special to be lost in an old book. I tried to make the painting look old and worn like I imagine an old armchair would look after years of use.( Not a great picture, I'll post a better one later when I can take a picture in the light of day)

Thankyou so much Girls, for all the honest opinions! It's just sometimes we get stuck in a certain style and feel that we can't change that style, I don't know for fear of failure in a new style or fear that you won't be recognized or maybe since it's a new style you might not do as well. I do value all your opinions because I know that many of you may feel the same way as I, a little insecure about changing or trying something new. And then sometimes we can't see past the end of our noses until someone from the outside points it out! I love to create my girlie's but as Jennifer from "blueskysunburn" put it...The market is saturated and maybe it will appeal to a different crowd and expand my audience as a few of you made me see. And yeah, I guess there are no rules, why can't I do both! I will definitely continue to create my whimsical paintings but I'm definitely going to try some new things! Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping me see!

I haven't blogged in a while, I've just been exhausted! but i have been busy and of course been painting... but I'm at a cross road maybe some of you can give me some input. I get bored easily and when i do I have to change my art, if you notice my backgrounds are always different techniques i experiment with all the time but sometimes i don't even remember how I got a certain technique!LOL! any way I wanted to try some different things like abstracts and more realistic paintings, of course i'll be still doing my whimsical paintings but I'm itching to try something different, I've been creating some jewelry which i'll post soon but here is a painting that's a little bit different from what you're used to from me, I'd love some opinions, should I stick to the old ones or maybe try a few like this? Hi, Just wanted to remind everybody I'm doing a print giveaway! one week left till I pick a name! I will put all the names in a pot and choose one on Sunday the 27th. It's a surprise which one it will be.
Just wanted to show you all some of my newest paintings and I've been experimenting with some new techniques and new styles,since I haven't been working as much,
It's slow season and I'm only working two days a week! I'm taking advantage and getting into shape a little..a lot!
I started sketching the idea of this painting when I was on vacation , my daughter always tells me I'm like a mermaid, cause i love seashells and shiny things and I get distracted really easily by interesting or quirky things! So I came up with this....cause it's how I felt, she'll be up on Etsy soon, maybe tonight.

Its called "I'll love you to the moon and back" and I used some of those seashells too!

Thanks for all the great comments yesterday, I had a blast! the ocean was really rough though! Oh and for those of you that asked the texture on the painting was none other than...tissue paper, and then a few layers of paint on top. really easy and it gives great texture on your paintings!
Well a few weeks ago I promised some pics from my vacation, I went to some amazing beaches with some amazing seashells! and incredible sunsets! I saw some capuchino monkeys so close i could touch them and i fed them bananas! and i also swung like a monkey through the trees, but i don't have pics of the last one yet cause my cousin took the pics and she hasn't sent me the pics yet.
Click on pics to see close up, you can't really see the seashells that great but the colors were amazing, soft turquoise,yellow,green and rust colored rocks, and the shells were pink and coral and stark white with all shades inbetween! I will incorporate these in my art and maybe make some jewelry.

well, I'm back... for now ... again! haven't bought a new computer yet, I'm using my sons' laptop, hate it! I think I'll wait a little see what specials Christmas brings? Meanwhile I'll use this for now!He is so sweet, he offered it to me to use until I get one of my own!

Anyway, I have been so busy without a computer I do get a lot more done!LOL! I have so much to post...and today I can't really, I'ts my anniversary...24 years!!!!So I'm playing hookie today and going to the beach with my husband for the day!I only live 45 minutes from my favorite beach...Melborne, Fl., I love just hanging out with just him, he's funny and as long as i promise to take him somewhere nice for lunch he'll let me wander through the little antique shops and art shops of the great little town, so that's the plan today but i promise to post some great stuff when i get back, also, I decided to do my first giveaway of one of my prints...not showing anyone though it's a surprise, but just leave me a comment within the next two weeks, and I'll pick out a name on Sunday the 27th.

Here's a picture of a painting I did for my daughter's college apartment... I really like it, and by the way the design was her idea, it's a very large painting... 36x36. click on the image to see it up close, the moon has a few details that are interesting.And the texture is really great.!

I still haven't uploaded my pics from my vacation, but I do have pictures of my new little Dog we adopted at the humane society, we've had her a month and a half now and her hair has finally grown in , she's a cocka-poo, we think she looks like the precious moments dog, so sweet, she's really grateful for her new home and she's already spoiled rotten! The other day, while we were out,( jumped over the gate we put up for her) she got into box of slim jims ( really big box that some one gave us) and she ate over half of them, then she stashed the other half around the house. I was sleeping last night and stuck my hand under my pillow and pulled a half chewed SJ out!!!! a half chewed one under my pillow!!!!

My daughter put a pink scarf on her head and said she was aunt jemima?

I had a wonderful vacation,Didn't get a chance to blog though! i'll be posting some great pics soon, just thought I'd say Hi and thank all who commented on my paintings! I had the most adventurous vacation in Costa Rica! From a family reunion, family members I haven't seen in 9 years, to the most beautiful beaches and incredible treasure I found that I just have to show you!I even went on Canopy tour www.skywalk.co.cr and stayed at my families Hotel www.monteverde.co.cr ( can't get links to work, but check them out, they are great!)
...which I am very proud to say belongs to my cousins, who where the first to settle in this area and who started the skywalk! amazing place with cabins nestled in the only cloud forest in the world! monkeys, sloths, tucans and the most beautiful butterflies greet you everywhere! check them out, I'll be back to post some pics.

I haven't blogged in so long!!! I've just been sooo busy with work and i really don't know what but any way my husband says I have ADHD , some time I think I do! i lose track of time very easily and get distracted with just about any little thing and completely forget what I'm doing, that's why I'm a terrible cook(thank goodness my husband like to cook and he cooks great! cause if i cooked it would be Cajun style every night!no, seriously I almost burned the house down cooking popcorn!I don't know my mind goes a mile a minute but don't ask me what i was thinking.....anyway a little related to all this is I love textures and cool backgrounds on my paintings, any paintings for that matter, but sometimes i forget how i did them! so I decided to revisit some of those texture and backgrounds, some I've just totally forgotten cause I'm always experimenting with new ones, I have been working non stop on these paintings and I've suddenly realised i have done 13 new paintings! some even new styles Ill post them little by little cause one of my other downfalls is I always feel like I need to be doing something else other than what I'm doing and posting thirteen new paintings I'm sure I'll get distracted in the process! I have been wanting to do something different from my girls so i did this collage... I'm pretty happy with it!Its got sea shells, a metal heart and bird and its beeswaxed! Today has been my only day off this week, I was really hoping to get a lot done but as usual I spend half of my time looking thru all the wonderful blogs and kind of doing odds and ends,I also cried my eyes out for three hours watching the Micheal Jackson memorial service that my husband dvr'd for me. So sad to see such talent and an unbelievable life gone. I always felt like he was so lonely and misunderstood, I wanted to be his friend and tell him how much God loved him.

I finally got around, (after my eyes unswelled from crying)to finish a painting I put up on etsy... again with the mermaids...this I titled..."Mermaids at play"
